This Sunday 24th(last Sunday in the month) is a jam night. No P.A.,no M.C.,no stage no spotlights,no pressure. If you want to play or play along just do it.
Next Sunday(first Sunday in the month) 1st May, is Open Mic Night. Sort a slot out with Mike and get up and do twenty minutes or so.Yes there will be the P.A.
What about last Thursday then? After looking like nobody would turn up, we just filled up all of a sudden. Then after some relaxed guitar from Steve(bass player with Riverman) then Riverman themselves with the return of the lovely backing vocals of Alyss, we had the Neil C. Young Trio. Instead of the expected loungy style background jazz that I thought we'd be getting, we were bombarded by the soul-funk roots of the James Brown Band with a sprinkling of Led Zep woven in there somewhere...What a good do, people were dancing in their seats! Pity I've not got the sound & vision sorted out yet...cos if you weren't there...
Anyway, more of the same again soon please 'n they're keen to come back
Meanwhile I've a few bands and things to sort out and besides the first and last Sunday open mic/jam nights, we have the return of the wonderful Edwina Hayes on a double bill with the as yet undiscovered singer/songwriter David Ward Maclean at the end of June. Already getting ticket enquiries.
Even more meanwhile there's a women screaming on the back street and a bloke shouting at her. Think they've o.d'd on Hollyoaks n' Eastenders;(there's a lot of it about)
And they all lived happily ever after.
